Afghanistan is a landlocked country in southwest Asia. It shares borders with Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, China, Pakistan, and Iran and consists mostly of a mass of mountain chains.
Afghanistan was once a highly visited country by adventurous travelers due to its mountainous terrain, delicious food and friendly population. Much has changed as the country is still struggling for stability and peace after the Taliban regime was removed from power. With continued acts of violence, often targeting foreigners, the country remains insecure for foreign travelers, especially outside the capital, Kabul.
