Interesting locations in Anguilla

Anguilla is a flat and low-lying island of coral and limestone between the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic Ocean, east of Puerto Rico. This small West Indian island is about thirty-five square miles in area. The capital of the island, The Valley, is located in the center and roads branch out to east and west from it.

Shoal Bay East is considered Anguilla's best beach strand. Broad and long with radiant sands and clear blue waters, it is ideal for swimming, snorkeling and sun bathing. The lack of development in the area adds to its unspoiled appeal. Anguilla's top archaeological site, the Fountain, is nearby.

The Valley, the island's only real town, is the geographic, commercial and political center of Anguilla. There is a marked lack of colonial architecture because the old British buildings were torn down during the administrative relocation to St Kitts in 1825. Some notable places of interest include the historical displays of the Anguilla National Trust Museum, the exterior of Wallblake House, and the design of the adjacent church. Besides this, there are some old houses that are being renovated as shops and commercial establishments and a few mini-malls.
