Local Services in Anguilla

Local services in Anguilla are sufficient for the tourist but it can be difficult for people planning to stay for a longer time. Supplies of potable water do not always meet the increasing demand because of poor distribution systems.

The electricity level is at 110 V 60 Hz and a class II ungrounded plug with two flat parallel prongs is in standard use. Anguilla has a modern internal telephone system. The international country code is 1-264. Banking facilities are modern and there are five ATM machines.

There are three radio broadcast stations: AM 2, FM 7, shortwave 0 (2004) and one television broadcast station. The Internet country code is .ai

With a land area of less than 40 square miles, getting around Anguilla is not too difficult even though the transport systems are rudimentary. The country is not as mountainous as some other Caribbean islands so bikes and mopeds are a cheap and viable option. However, travelers need to be careful while riding because some of the roads are rocky and make for rough riding. Rental cars are cost efficient and drivers must have a valid driver's license from their home country along with a local driver's permit.

There is no public transportation in Anguilla but taxis are available throughout the island for transportation and tours.
