The Languages spoken in Albania


Albanian is the official language of Albania and being of Indo-European origin, it is considered the only language that derives from Iliria.

There are two main dialectos in Albania: The first is Gegë, spoken in the north, in regions of Yugoslavia populated by Albanians in the north and the west of Macedonian. The second is Toskë, which is spoken in the south of Albania, in Greece and the islands, Sicily and Calabria.
