Transportation

Armenia has 840 km (520 miles) of railroad with connections to Turkey, Iran, Georgia and Russia.

The main road to Georgia goes through Azerbaijan.

The reconstruction of a bridge over the river Araks has improved access by road to Iran.

A great number of roads in Armenia (about 40%) are in need of repairs.

Telecommunications

Telecommunications systems in Armenia are still in a beginning state.

There are approximately 8 telephone per 100 persons.

The development of the telecommunications infrastructure has been focussed primarily in Yerevan, which has about 45% of all phones in Armenia.

In rural areas telecommunication services are practically nonexistent.
