Religious beliefs in Argentina


Almost 90% of Argentineans are Roman Catholic.

Today, almost 1 million people are Protestant.

These religions are denominations within Christianity.

About 500.000 persons are in Argentina are Jewish. About 100.000 follow Islam.

Many native Argentineans have their own native believes.

The Conquistadors who came from Spain introduced Christianity in the 16th century. During the centuries that follow, millions of Roman Catholics from Spain and Italy form a strong church in Argentina.

Nowadays about 50% of the Catholics in the country go to church regularly, while the rest only go on special occasions, for weddings, baptisms, and first communions.
