The Climate in American Samoa


Located between the Equator and Tropic of Capricorn, American Samoa enjoys the characteristic barmy weather and warm breezes of the tropical maritime. Temperatures are warm or hot year-round with an average year-round temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit and high humidity.

Frequent rain showers provide respite from the heat and annual rainfall averages about 200 inches. The rainy season runs from November to April and typhoons and tropical storms are prevalent in these months. May to October is relatively dry.

In the harbour area of Tutuila, there is more than 5000mm (197in) of precipitation annually because of the renowned Rainmaker Mountain.
