The Climate in Azerbaijan

Most of Azerbaijan’s climate is subtropical, but varies along all throughout the country based on altitude and weather conditions.

Summers are usually mild and dry, especially in the central and east part of the country. Very little rain falls along the coast of Caspian Sea, so the area is desert like.

At the farthest south side of the country in an area called Länkärän Lowland there is a lot of rainfall and the weather is rather humid.

In other areas of Azerbaijan the weather varies according to their altitude.

At the farthest southwest, which is below sea level summers are long and hot.

Further inland, at the foot of the mountains temperatures are rather mild.

At altitudes above 3,050 meters (10,000 feet), temperatures are low and the snow maintains roadways closed several months of the year.
