Local Services in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a beautiful country but is devastated by war. All infrastructures, including the highways, railroads, and telecommunications, were scourged in the war. Travel by road is the usual means of transport in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Roads are still poor in conditions, but many roads are in process of restoration. The car is the best way to travel in the country. You can explore the country on your will. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a small country that is easy to travel around. Major roads have asphalt but miserable condition and usually heavily traffic are on it especially when there is some weddings and gatherings. Tourists are advised to take extra precautions because of mines are still on some roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina especially in some local towns.

The railway system connects Sarajevo with major towns to the north and with Zagreb and Belgrade and another line runs south from Sarajevo to Mostar and to Ploce on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. A ticket for a ride has to be bought earlier from small kiosks by the tram stops. If the kiosks are not open in the evening, you can get a ticket from the driver but you’ll pay an additional cent.

Internets in some towns are available. There are few internet cafes; however, hotels might provide facilities. Coverage of mobile telephone is average in the country. Postal service is available also but a normal post takes approximately one week to reach its destination while a heavier baggage could take up to 10 days. Telephone system and telegraph network needs modernization and expansion.
