The Culture of Bahrain

Bahrain’s society is relatively open and liberal. The dominant class has always been the merchants, who have established a culture oriented toward business and the accumulation of wealth.

At the same time Bahrain’s society continues to maintain the traditional Islamic values specially those who live in the Shiite rural area.

The tradition in the Arab world has always been for women to stay home, while men go out to work. However today women play an ever-increasing, important role in business and the professional life of Bahrain.

Bahrain has become known as a wide leisure center, with concerts, sports contests, and cultural events. Those events include pop music, opera and ballet.
