Getting Visas to Benin

In order to go through Benin, you will need a passport valid for 6 months. Visas are required for citizens of Australia, Britain, Canada, the United States of America, and other European countries. Nationals of Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Sweden do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days and also those in transit continuing their onward journey within 24 hours provided holding confirmed tickets and documentation. Other citizens may refer to the embassy of Benin. An original form of the International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever is also required to enter the country of Benin. It must be submitted along with the application form to the embassy. An American who arrived at the airport of Benin without a visa will be deported immediately. There are embassies in Ghana, Niger and Nigeria on which you can get a visa if you are traveling through the West Africa. You can purchase also at the Togo border. Visas are valid for up to 30 or 90 days within 3 months of date issue.

There are 2 types of visas available in Benin namely the tourist visa and the business visa. A business letter of responsibility is also required before entering the country. This letter must explain the nature of business to be performed in the country, the name and address of reference to be visited, guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit; and lastly the letter must be signed by an officer of the company.
