Interesting locations in Belarus

A landlocked country in Eastern Europe, Belarus is surrounded by Russia to the east, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the north. Large and flat, the country is heavily forested and contains large tracts of marshy land.

Minsk is a splendid combination of its ancient Slavic history, Soviet remnants such as the KGB building and the new modern-day Belarus, which included nightclubs and swish restaurants. As the educational and cultural hub, Minsk also has 12 universities and plenty of museums, libraries, theaters and cinema houses.

Homyel, also known as Homel or Gomel, is the second-largest city of Belarus and the main city of Homiel Province. It is an important industrial center although due to its proximity to Ukraine, many people migrated to Minsk after the Chernobyl disaster causing a significant decline in population.
