You are here: Countries / Belize

Before anyone can go and see the Great Blue Hole or spend a week in the famous Ambergris Caye, or is interested to do some business in Belize, one need first to secure an appropriate visa from any of the consular offices of Belize. Obtaining a visa be it Visit, Business or Education Visa is rather easy as processing may be as fast as the next day. However, for some, an allowance of 2 to 4 weeks is needed as a special clearance from the Director of Immigration and Nationality Services in Belize might be required.

To secure a visa the following certain supporting documents must be submitted together with a fully accomplished application form. The most essential document an applicant should have is a passport. A passport sized photo is a must so don’t forget to bring a recent one. The immigration authorities of Belize would also require all applicants to show proof of accommodation like hotel reservations or address of family or friends residing in Belize. Another essential document to bring is a proof of financial means. This could be bank certifications or proof of income.  Then also, a letter that will indicate the purpose of the trip would also be asked especially if the nature of application is an Educational or a Business Visa. Applicants of Educational Visas would be asked to have a copy of a Letter of Introduction from a University in Belize. If the purpose of visit is a business one, then a Letter of Introduction from a local Belizean company is the appropriate document. For those who are only applying for a Visit Visa, a travel itinerary would suffice.

Belize has also entered diplomatic agreements with a few countries and so if one who’s point of origin is form the European Union Member States, the Caribbean Community Member States, the Commonwealth of Realms and Monarchies and dependent territories, the USA and it’s dependent territories, Switzerland, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, Norway, Tunisia, South Africa,  Uruguay and the Commonwealth Republics except for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Nauru, Cameroon, Mozambique, Chad and West African Countries can go travel Belize even without applying for a visa.
