Local Services in Chile


Public transportation used in Chile are urban buses (the new city transportation system is identify as Tran Santiago in connection with subway system and interurban buses); interurban buses (numerous companies render service to every metropolis in the country); trains (have different styles of coaches for several kinds of necessities; this denotes that transportation is comfortable and economical).

Communication services in the country are mail services (Correos de Chile is the company that is responsible for postal services); fax and telegraph (some companies offering such services are Telefónica, ENTEL, VTR and Télex-Chile); local phone calls (there are phone booths all over the city); international phone calls (it works proficiently and inexpensive); cellular phones (it is commonly used); internet (e-mail and internet is also common); Radio (FM has 23 stations airing well-liked music and 4 stations which give entirely cultural programs and classical music) ;and TV (there are 6 local TV channels and 2 cable TV companies that comprise over 60 international channels).

The Com. Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport is the busiest airport in Chile. Yearly, it servea more than 9 million travelers and have a very clean, modern and economical terminal. The largest airport in Chile is Santiago. Other major airports in the country are Temuco (Manquehue), Punta Arenas (Pdte. Ibañez), Puerto Montt (Tepual), Iquique (Cavancha), Antofagasta (Cerro Moreno), and Arica (Chacalluta).
