The Languages spoken in Costa Rica

The official and main language of the country is Spanish. In Costa Rica, there are two predominant native accents: the Nicoyan (the pronunciation is alike to the standard Nicaraguan pronunciation); and the standard Costa Rican (accent is double [r] phoneme is usual in the Spanish speaking). Central American Spanish is the type spoken in the country.

The Chibchan language includes Boruca (is the local language of the Boruca individuals of Costa Rica and also recognized as Bronca) and Bribri (spoken by the Bribri individuals of the country and there are around 6,000 speakers).
