The Climate in Cuba

Cuba is hot and humid like every other Caribbean island. The Cuban climate is mild and sub-topical with cool trade winds to provide relief from the heat and humidity, thanks to its proximity to the Tropic of Cancer, which delimits the northern edge of the tropics.

The temperature rarely falls below 81°F or 27°C, and can reach to a maximum of 90°F or 32°C. The highest temperature ever recorded in Cuba is less than 40°C. There are basically 2 seasons in Cuba just like any sub-tropical countries-the rainy season and the dry season. Rain falls between May and October, and soft breezes and tropical showers are common from May up until July. Tropical storms-and even hurricanes-are not uncommon between the months of August and November. As a result of climate change throughout the planet, hurricanes have become more frequent and more intense in the past decade in Cuba and its neighboring countries. This catastrophe causes serious flooding and damage to houses and crops.

Try to bring basic items such as sunscreen, insect repellant, and even deodorant if you are planning to visit the country. The driest and coolest months, January to April, are the busiest in terms of tourist activity.
