Education in Czech Republic

Education has always been one of the important factors topping in a country’s priorities. The education sector is being controlled by the state and illiteracy rate has not been in the country’s records. Compulsory and education are offered to children 6 to 15 years old. The structure of the school system of Czech Republic is Basic. The pre-school education is from 2-5 years old; basic is from 6-15; high schools, grammar schools, and then Universities are the levels of educations offered in the country. Education in Czech Republic is advantageous to everybody because it is free. However, other fees such as textbooks and food are paid separately.

Nine (9) years are allotted in the Basic program of education in the country. The Vysvědčení or the Primary Leaving School Certificate is awarded after the program. General Secondary is another category of the education program in Czech with 8 years of learning in total. Ages 11-19 are accepted in this program. Moreover, another General Secondary category is also offered, which is the admission after 7th year of basic school, which has the length of 6 years in total. Furthermore, the Gymnasiums provide preparations for the students’ future professions. Secondary education includes three types of schools: secondary general schools (gymnasium), secondary technical schools and secondary vocational schools. Higher education can be of university or a non-university type like the Bachelor study programmes and master study programmes. On the other hand, University-type higher education includes Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate programmes. Public and private education sectors include courses such as Engineering, Medicine, Humanities, Sciences, Economics, Agriculture, Teacher Training, Veterinary Medicine, and Arts.
