The food in Croatia, though it might be slightly different for each region in the country, has one thing in common: it reflects the culture and tradition of Croatia. The food from the Kvarner region is still being prepared the traditional way like for example; cheese and ham are still being dried in the fireplace. In fact, famous dishes like manestra and polenta are still being cooked over the fireplace.

The inland cuisine of Croatia especially that of Dalmatia, is another unique experience in itself because they have their own special and traditional way of preparing food. Lamb is a famous ingredient and is served as boiled or grilled. Bakalar is an equally famous and delectable dish in Dalmatia which a dried cod stew with potatoes.

It is a combination of grape brandy and herbs. Sometimes each bottle contains at least ten different herbs up to probably twenty herbs like rosemary, sage, lavender and many others.
