Spa retreats, hot springs, soaring music and fine wine—what’s not to love about Hungary? This landlocked country in Central Europe has made quite a name for itself on account of various achievements. It is also considered responsible in some measure for the start of the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Hungary was admitted to Nato in 1999 and has been a member state of the European Union since May 1, 2004. It is also a member of the OECD.

The capital of Hungary is Budapest, a lively and charming city that is the center of the Magyar Republic as Hungary is called. It has many cultural and sporting festivals and is a stone’s throw away from other, more rural pleasures.
