The Weather and Climate in Israel

The country has a Mediterranean climate distinguished by long, hot, dry summers and short, cold, rainy winters, as adapted locally by elevation and latitude. But the southern and eastern regions of Israel are characterized by a dry climate. June to August is frequently dry or rainless. The typical summer temperature is from 18°C to 32°C and is possible to reach 38°C during the month of August. Winters are moderately mild, with average temperature of 14°C down the coast and 9°C in the mountains. Winter season spreads from November to February. Snow is seldom observed, excluding in the hill provinces. Heavy snowstorm can be encountered only in the northernmost partly in Golan Heights. The Mount Hermon summit normally experiences the snowfall from December to March. The coldest month is January, with temperatures between 5°C and 10°C.

The climate of Tel Aviv is semi tropic with mild winters and hot summers. The average temperature in summer is 25°C and 14°C in winter. Wetness has a tendency to subsist high all year round and the wet season is from November to April. The busiest months and best time to travel to Tel Aviv is from July and August. Jerusalem is situated at a moderately high altitude, and hence experiences fairly cold, wet winters with irregular light snowfalls. By distinction summers are dry and humid, with low wetness and average temperature is about 24°C.
