The city is one of the world's major commercial and financial centers, and one of the wealthiest cities in the European Union, apart from being a global fashion capital. It is also home to many universities and other institutions of higher learning.

Naples is capital of the Campania region and the Province of Naples and its metropolitan area of Naples is one of the largest in Italy. The inhabitants are known as Neapolitans. Rich in historical, artistic and cultural traditions, Naples is also an important seat of higher learning.
