Religious Beliefs and Spirituality in Jamaica

Christianity is the majority religion in the country. There are freedom and impartiality of religion in the country. Protestant churches are leading, with a range of denominations comprising above 60% of the entire populace. Nowadays, the Church of God declares the largest number of believers, with 21% of the population. Next are the Seventh-Day Adventists and Baptists with various denominations of about 9% each. Approximately 8% of the populace is Pentecostal. The Church of England, previously the dominant religion in the country, claims about 6%.

Other values include Roman Catholics (4%), United Church (3%), Methodists (3%), Jehovah's Witnesses (2%), Moravians (1%), and Brethren (1%). Other religious groups in Jamaica are Hindus, Jews, Muslims, and Rastafarians. There are around 200 of the population of Jews that express themselves as Liberal-Conservative.

The religious group Rastafarianism originated in Jamaica and has a strong African influence. Its supporters believe in the philosophy of King James Bible. They think Ethiopia is heaven on earth and that former Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie was their religious leader. The Rastafarian movement maintains to expand and is racially influential in the country and in abroad. At this time, it has about 700,000 members all over the world and has official branches in the America, Canada, Caribbean islands and England.
