Endowed with breathtaking castles, vigorous forests, serene lakes, and marvelous landscapes, this Baltic country stays in a beautiful part of Northern Europe. Dwelling within Latvia to the North and Belarus to the East, the country is truly enriched with resources beneficial to the Lithuanians. The country covers around 65,200 square kilometres abundant in limestone, clay, sand, and numerous agricultural resources. In the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea, the Lithuania can truly smell the cool breeze of the waters. Customs, beliefs, and traditions are significant to the people, preserving them in their context.

Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, was named after a crossing river in the country, the Vilnia River. Business and commercial areas have been developed, making it the centre for major economic activities of the country. What’s more, intricate and unique architectures have been remarkable in this area. The historical town of the city, the Vilnius Old Town, has been widely visited because of the most valuable historical sites making it inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The country is a member of the NATO (National Atlantic Treaty Organization) since March 29, 2004, the European Union since May 1, 2004, and the Schengen Agreement since December 21, 2007. Lithuania had once been the largest state in the whole Eastern Europe. The Lithuanians had truly struggled for their independence from the Soviet Union but eventually, they gained full freedom on March 11, 1990.

The Lithuanians value their family and most especially, their religion. The Roman Catholic Church is the main religion in Lithuania, and it sincerely has a great influence on the daily lives of the people.
