Interesting locations in Mongolia

Also known as the “Land of Blue Skies”, Mongolia is a country landlocked between Russia and China. There are definitely more than blue skies in this magnificent country. It is one of the few places on earth where nomadic life remains a living tradition. Mostly visited cities in the country include Ulaanbaatar (National History Museum, Gandan Monastery, Sukhbaatar Square, Zaisan Memorial, Natural History Museum, Choijin Lama Monastery), Hovd (Baatar Khairhan Mountain, “Drop Spring”, theaters, museums, statues), Moron (Deerstone Complex), Tsetserleg (Aimag Museum, Buyandelgeruulekh Monastery, Zayain Khuree Monastery), Ulaangom (Dechinravjaalin Khiid Monastery), and Uliastai (The Nine White Stupas, The Ruined Manchu Fort, Buddhist temples).

Some of must-to-see attractions include Khrogo (located near Arkhangai Aimag, it is an extinct basalt-covered volcano and produces attractive bubbles of solidified lava), Manzushir Monastery (found in the valley of Bogd Khan mountain, it was established in 1733 with 20 huge temples and 300 monks and only one temple has been rebuilt after it was completely destroyed between 1920 and 1930,), The Taikhar Stone (found near Khoid River in Ikh Tamir soum of Arkhangai, stands at 18 meter, physically made of granite and known for its shape, it has 150 different symbols written in several languages), Khoid Tsenkher Cave (located in Khovd province, known for its historical rock paintings which believed to have existed during the Paleolithic Period), Yolyn Am (situated in the Gurvansaikhan Mountains, it also known as the Valley of the Vultures and offers spectacular countryside), Khosho Tsaidam (found in , considered to be the most significant recognized archaeological remnants of the Turkish Empire which consists of 4 memorial complexes in honor of Bilge Khan, Kul Tegin, and Khan’s younger brother), Uvs Nuur Lake (biggest lake in Mongolia), and Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve (found in Tuv Province, it is a locally protected conservation area for threatened species, it has 3 zones – tourism, core, and, limited).
