Getting Visas to Mongolia

The citizens of the following countries may enter Mongolia without a visa – Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cuba, Georgia, Hong Kong, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macao, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and the US. The Mongolia Embassy and Honored Consul issues visa in foreign countries.

The general requirements in obtaining a Mongolian visa includes a valid passport, one (1) passport size photo, and three (3) completely filled up application form. The types of Mongolian visas are the following:

  • Type D – issued to those with diplomatic passport or an UNO official
  • Type A – given to foreigners who were invited by a Mongolian government agency, self-governing municipal offices, or any political party who has a seat in the State Great Khural (Parliament).
  • Type OU – granted UN officials or any of its offices who are holding the blue laissez-passer passport.
  • Type T – given to foreign investors, or other officials working on a joint business venture in the country.
  • Type HM – issued to members of a foreign media organization who received an invitation to stay in Mongolia for media coverage purposes.
  • Type O – granted to foreigners who are invited by a non-governmental group or international humanitarian institute to visit or live in the country.
  • Type B – issued to foreign nationals who will be conducting business-related matters in Mongolia.
  • Type S – given to foreigners for the purpose of studying, researching, or internship.
  • Type J – granted to foreign citizens who wish to travel around Mongolia as a tourist.
  • Type HG – issued to foreign nationals with the purpose of working in the country.
  • Type SH – given to foreign citizens or stateless people that have been invited by a religious group to visit or live in Mongolia.
  • Type TS – issued to foreign nationals who were allowed to migrate to Mongolia.
  • Type H – issued to foreign citizen married to a Mongolian citizen whose marriage is authenticated by relevant Mongolian authorities.
