Getting Visas to Malaysia

Visa application form, passport (valid for 3 months), and round trip tickets are the necessary documents in all kinds of visa.

Nationals of the following countries are required to get a visa – Bangladesh, Central African Republic, Congo Republic, Ethiopia, Hong Kong (C/I or D/I), India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Western Sahara. For those who are planning to stay for more than 14 days, nationals of the following countries are required to obtain a visa – Syria, South Yemen, Sierra Leone, Palestine, Macao, Iraq, and Libya and Iran, which exceed for 15 days. For those who will be staying got more than 3 months, nationals of the following countries that are required to obtain a visa – Albania, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, Cuba, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Peru, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom and Yemen.

U.S. citizens can stay up to 3 months and visa is not necessary whether for tourist or business tour. Contact directly the nearest consulate or the embassy. For tourist visa, the requirements for those holding a non-U.S. passport are confirmation of hotel reservation, flight itinerary, letter from employer as evidence of employment, evidence of financial status/statement of account, payment for visa and credit card authorization forms. For business visa, the requirements for non-U.S citizens are same for tourist visa and in addition, a business letter with company letterhead indicating the purpose of the visit and invitation letter from the company.

All foreigners entering the country for social visit reasons must acquire a Social Visit Pass. The said pass is given at all Malaysian points. The time needed to issue a visa is 1 day. The cost for single and multiple-entry visa is £10, but it cost £20 for those holding Indian passports. For more details kindly inquire or contact the Malaysian High Commission. Extensions are possible and usually the allowable length of stay is up to 3 months.
