Getting Visas to Oman

Rules on how to get a visa to Oman varies with reference to what country you are from but basically, there are two types of Visa required for entering the country. One is the single- entry visa which is valid for one month and can be extended to another month from after the date of expiration. This can be obtained by tourists and costs OMR6. The other one is multiple-entry Visa which is valid for one year that guarantees a maximum of three weeks stay per visit. Multiple-entry Visa will cost OMR10. Both Visa types can either be obtained from any Omani embassy and consulate office in respective countries or region or upon the date of arrival at Oman Seeb International Airport.

For business and commercial purposes, Express Visa is used. The Directorate General of Passport & Residency issues such visa in the same day and is valid for two weeks with a cost of OMR7.

Residents (for at least one year) from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and, given that they have a copy of their residence permit and labor card, can get a tourist visa. Unaccompanied minors must bring parent’s permit. Entry of visitors without tourist or sponsored visa will be denied. Also they will only be allowed to enter the country by road if their visa states it is valid, including the particular point of entry. A sponsored visa is available from the Royal Oman Police Immigration Department. The Oman Embassy is responsible for the assistance and release of the visa.
