Getting Visas to Peru


The following documents but not limited to, may be required for a foreigner applying for a Peruvian Tourist Visa: (1) valid passport; (2) valid return ticket to country of origin; (3) bank statement or any document to prove your financial stability while in Peru; (4) two fill-up application forms; and (5) two colored passport-size photos. A Tourist Visa has a validity of 90 days.

For visitors whose main purpose in Peru is to conduct business, you should apply for a Business Visa. Foreigners with Business Visa can stay in the country for no more than 90 days. Upon arriving in Peru, the holder is mandated to visit the Dirección General de Contribuciones for taxing concerns. If he or she desires to extend the allowable period, an appointment to the office of the Dirección General de Migraciones is required.

Foreigners applying for a Business Visa are required to show a bank statement with a balance of at least £1,200 while for Tourist Visa a minimum of £1,000. Tourist Visa cost $10 and $20 for Business Visa. Every foreign visitor is recommended to check with the Peruvian Consulate before leaving the country to ensure proper documentation that may be required. Please do take note that if you are a national of the following countries, your visa application process may take for a while because of the authorization requirement needed from the immigration office in Lima: Cuba, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, and China.
