Getting Visas to Philippines

A Philippine Visa is an approval made by a consular official at a Philippine embassy or Consulate abroad indicating that the bearer has undergone proper visa evaluation and is allowed to proceed to the Philippines and ask for permission from Philippine Immigration officers to the enter the country. Below are the different types of visa application a foreigner can request:

Tourist Visa – given to foreigners under 3 main categories: pleasure, business and health. A total of 59-day stay in the Philippines is allowed for a Tourist Visa.

Student Visa – foreigners who are planning to study or take formal education in one of the recognized schools and universities in the Philippines should get a Student Visa.

Treaty Traders/Investors Visa – issued to a foreigner who is coming to the Philippines for the sole purpose of carrying out an important trade or business between his/her country and the Philippines.

Pre-Arranged Employment Visa – this type is given to aliens seeking lawful employment in the Philippines either for wages or other kinds of compensation. Examples of allowed professionals include professors, doctors and nurses, scientists and other workers for commercial, industrial, banking, and agricultural enterprises.

Special Resident Retiree Visa – gives the holder multiple-entry privileges including the right to permanent residence in the Philippines.

Special Investor’s Resident Visa

Immigrant Visa

Nationals from other countries are allowed to enter the Philippines without visas as long it is for business and tourism reasons. Also, their stay should not exceed 21 days; they must hold valid two-way tickets to their country of origin or another destination; and their passports should be valid for a time of at least 6 months beyond the considered period of stay.
