The Government and Political System in Russia

Russia is a federal presidential republic. The President of Russia is the head of state and the Prime Minister is the head of government. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the two chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Putin became the Russian President in March 2004 with around 70% of the vote.
