Visa application requirements for Solomon Islands

You are here: Countries / Solomon Islands

The Solomon Islands government has a standing list of requirements governing the visit or entry of all persons into the country. These requirements include: (a) a valid passport issued by the proper passport-issuing office of the country of origin, (b) a valid onward/return ticket, (c) proof of sufficient funds to sustain the traveler’s stay in the country, and (d) a valid visa to enter other countries from the Solomon Islands. A visitor’s permit is granted to the traveler upon compliance with the requirements. The nationals of certain countries can obtain the visitor’s permit upon arrival in the country, and they include those from 21 countries in Oceania, 27 countries in Europe, 10 countries in Asia, two in North America, 10 in South America, and 21 from the Caribbean region. Prior approval by the Director of Immigration is required for the nationals of other listed countries before they may be allowed to enter the country as visitors. With a visitor’s permit, all visitors are required to follow certain conditions imposed by the government such as (a) to refrain from behaving in a manner that may prejudice peace and order, (b) to avoid engaging in any business, profession or employment, (c) to refrain from any religious vocation or research unless approved by the government, and (d) to follow such other conditions as may be imposed further by the government through the Director of Immigration.

For citizens of Britain, Australia, Canada, United States and other European Union countries, a visa is not required to enter the country but only a passport with six months validity remaining and a return ticket or confirmed itinerary.
