The Government in Sweden

The government of Sweden is a constitutional monarchy with a representative democracy based on a parliamentary system. The Chief of State is the King while the government is led by the Prime Minister and his cabinet of ministers.

The Riksdag is the national legislative parliament of Sweden. It is a unicameral assembly with 349 members, elected on a proportional basis to serve fixed terms of four years. The Riksdag building stands on the island of Helgeandsholmen in Stockholm. The Prime Minister and the cabinet are responsible for their actions to the Riksdag.

The judiciary is independent of the parliament.

The King of Sweden is Carl XVI Gustaf while Fredrik Reinfeldt of the Moderate Party is the current Prime Minister of Sweden.
