Study, Work, Volunteer and Travel in Turkey

The crossroads of Eastern and Western traditions, meeting point of two continents and birthplace of major civilizations such as the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, Turkey (or Turkiye) is endlessly fascinating for its historical, cultural and political movements. Ancient exoticism competes with fast-paced modernism to create a unique brew almost as enchanting as its chai.

Turkey became an EU candidate country in 1999 and introduced substantial human rights and economic reforms in line with EU requirements. Turkey is a founding member of the United Nations, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. It is also a member of the G20, which brings together the 20 largest economies of the world.

The capital of Turkey is Ankara. It is also the second-largest city in Turkey after Istanbul. Centrally located in Anatolia, Ankara is an important commercial and industrial city and the center of the Turkish Government.
