The Climate in Vietnam

The landscape of Vietnam composes of hills and thick forest mountains. Its northern region consists of generally flat terrains with the Red River Delta. Vietnam is characterized by tropical monsoon weather; humidity throughout the year averages at 84%. Due to the country’s range of topographical relief and variation in latitude, its climate differs greatly from place to place. Though seasonal weathers in some highlands differ by a few degrees, it normally ranges between 21°C and 28°C. But the northern half of the country has clearer seasonal divisions compare to the south.

Winter or dry season typically starts on November until April. During these times, the monsoon wind normally blows from the northeast on the China coast and over the Gulf of Tonkin. December and January are the coolest months with temperature reaching as low as 5°C. In the southwestern, summer monsoon generally starts on May until October. The heated breeze of the Gobi Desert arises thus stirring up moist air to flow from the sea. April or May can be the hottest months during which temperature can reach more than 37°C.
