A massive percentage of English words have their origins in Latin. Learning Latin is vital for a deeper understanding of all Romance languages, and even provides a better comprehension of English. Studying Latin is essential for understanding the Romance languages, it contributes to a clearer comprehension of English. SLU’s goal is to bolster students' critical thinking and analytical skills to prime them to understand themselves, others and their place in the world. Classical Language courses taught at SLU Madrid are: GK 1010: Reading Greek I, GK 1020: Reading Greek II, LATN 1010: Reading Latin I and LATN 1020: Reading Latin II.
