Music

SLU’s Music Program offers classes in music history and theory, as well as instrumental lessons in guitar, piano and voice. The Bachelor of Arts in Music primes students for graduate programs in music history or performance. Graduates can go straight into the job market in areas of arts education, music management and church music. Opportunities at SLU-Madrid include the chance to join the concert choir. The choir performs music from a selection of time periods, countries and styles. Every semester, the Arts Department invites guest speakers to address students and perform. Music students have a unique chance of listening to and meeting professional musicians. Some of the people that have performed recently include theorbo player Jorgen Skogmo, classical guitarist Adam Levin and composer Agustín Castilla-Ávila. Music faculty members also perform frequently in the classroom, on campus and off campus.
