| Contact this school | | Description | | The Pontifical University of Salamanca (UPSA) originates from the creation of the ecclesiastical departments of Theology an Canon Law in Salamanca in 1219. The University has continued to diversify its academic offer with the creation of degrees in diverse areas of knowledge. At the present time, there are 13.000 students in its numerous departments and University Schools spread out among the central seat in Salamanca, the Madrid campus, and the associated centres over twelve Spanish provinces. The Pontifical University of Salamanca is happy to receive you as an ERASMUS student within the framework of the SOCRATES program. It will be a pleasure for our professors and students to have you among us, and we will do everything possible to make your stay an enriching one from an academic point of view as well as from a personal one.
| | Alternate language description | | La Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca surge en 1940 para dar continuidad a las antiguas facultades eclesiásticas de la Universidad de Salamanca, suprimidas por real orden del 21 de mayo de 1852.
La Universidad de Salamanca fue fundada por el rey Alfonso IX de León en 1219 y quedó definitivamente constituida, en su doble carácter de real y pontificia, por Alfonso X el Sabio, el 8 de mayo de 1254.
El 25 de septiembre de 1940, Su Santidad Pío XII, a petición del Episcopado Español, restauró las Facultades de Teología y Derecho Canónico en la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca.
La UPSA, en su objetivo de responder a las necesidades sociales –desde su resurgimiento en 1940- ha desarrollado una oferta formativa que ha dado paso paulatinamente a nuevas titulaciones.
