| Contact this school | | Description | | Enjoying a history of 49 years, Changsha University of Science and Technology(CUST) is one of China?s largest universities with 32,000 enrolled students across four excellent environment campuses. This multi-discipline university covers the academic branches of Engineering, Science, Management, Economics, Arts, Law and etc. The university boasts of 20 schools and departments including Chinese Language School. There are more than one hundred specialties able to honor the bachelor?s degree, master's degree and doctor's degree in the university. It has academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering and experts enjoying special allowance of the State Council. Many laboratories lie on the campus, with The Linear Track Test Center possessing the longest-linear track system in Asia.
Our university is located in Changsha city of Hunan province, a well-known historical and cultural city with a history of more than two thousand years. Changsha boasts over-thousand-year-old Yuelu Academy and Mawangdui Han Dynasty Tombs, bamboo slips of Wu in ancient Three Kingdoms. It is also a modern city which can develop magnetic levitated train and super computer. Changsha is the hometown of outstanding talents in large number, such as the late Chairman Mao Zedong, the late Deputy Chairman Liu Shaoqi, former Premier Zhu Rongji, and the late hero Lei Feng and so on. Changsha?s geographic location is excellent with Yangtze River and Dongting Lake (including scenery spots as Yueyang Tower) to the north and Hengshan Mountain to the south (one of China's Five Sacred Mountains). It takes only several hours by train to the world heritage---Zhangjiajie National Geographic Park. Zhangjiajie is known as "nature labyrinth" where "each step takes one into a whole new world of breathtaking beauty." With an annual mean temperature of 16 degrees Celsius, warm winters and cool summers, Zhangjiajie is fit for tours all the year round.

The applicants shall write to the International Exchange Office of Changsha University of Science & Technology for the “Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China at CUST” and the “Physical Examination Record for Foreigners” which shall be completed and then with photocopy of passport mailed or E-mailed back to the university.

Regular instructors take charge of teaching Chinese as a foreign or second language. Since 80's of the last century CUST has been offering courses of Chinese Language and Chinese history and culture to many groups of overseas students. With excellent traditional humanism and arts atmosphere, CUST also offers courses like Chinese painting and calligraphy, dancing and Tai Chi. CUST has been honored, for many times, the award of World's Star in Package Design Competition sponsored by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It has wide foreign links and has signed agreements on educational exchanges and cooperation with universities of Britain, France, USA, Russia, Hong Kong and etc. Each year witness exchanges of students, teachers and visiting scholars between the university and its foreign partner universities.
Living and Learning:
CUST offers two types of flats to international students, two bedrooms with living room and one bedroom with living room, equipped with kitchen, washroom and broadband Internet. Students can access to modern Chinese Language Lab nearby. Overseas students are exposed to Chinese culture, and may experience local customs and culture through regular extracurricular activities in urban and rural areas.
