| Contact this school | | Description | | Barcelona Center for Education Abroad (BCEA), is located on the beautiful Rambla Catalunya in the heart of Barcelona. BCEA offers study abroad program in cooperation with the University of Barcelona for students of all levels of Spanish with a wide variety of courses taught in English,
Students can enroll in courses taught in English and Spanish at the University of Barcelona (UB and UB’s Hispanic Studies Center), or select from a variety of courses taught at the BCEA Center. Students of all levels of Spanish, even beginners may attend and all may to receive up to 17 semester credits:
1. General Studies Program – This program is targeted at students with limited or no prior experience in with the Spanish language. Students complete an 8-credit language course at the UB Hispanic Studies Centers, and additionally choose from various 3-credit electives (Courses include art history, economics, Spanish culture, photography, painting and more.
2. Spanish Language and Culture Program – Designed for intermediate students who have previously studied Spanish, this option offers a wide variety of additional courses in both English and Spanish. The unique aspect of this program is that even students at a lower- to intermediate level of Spanish can take, in addition to the required language course, elective courses in Spanish history and culture, Taught in Spanish; courses are specifically designed and segregated by level for foreign students wishing to simultaneously improve their Spanish and learn more about Hispanic culture.
3. Advanced Studies Program – This program is designed for students with a high proficiency of Spanish and allows the student to test out of the 8-credit language course in order to focus solely on elective courses taught in Spanish.
UB Direct Enrollment –More adventurous and independent students testing at high levels of Spanish also have the opportunity to select a specific area of study at UB and attend classes solely within that designated department; U.S. credits are granted assuming that the student has the classes pre-approved by his or her study abroad advisor.
BCEA’s facilities are located in an historically prestigious building in the heart of l’Eixample, on the tree-lined Rambla Catalunya - one of the most beautiful streets in the city. The University of Barcelona is only a few minutes walk away, and the city’s myriad of cultural and social opportunities is at our doorstep. The newly-renovated interior houses BCEA’s classrooms, art studio, student lounges, computer lab and administrative offices.
