Description
The Tallinn University was established on 18 March 2005 as the result of a merger of several universities and research institutes in Tallinn as well as the Estonian Academic Library. Its main strengths lie in the fields of humanities and social sciences, but it also has a strong and constantly growing component of natural and exact sciences, as well as a notable tradition of teacher training and educational research. The University consists of 6 faculties (Fine Arts, Educational Sciences, Physical Education, Philology, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Social Sciences), 2 academic institutes (Institute of History, Estonian Institute of Humanities), the Baltic Film and Media School as well as 4 research institutes (Institute of Estonian Demography, Institute of Ecology, Institute of Educational Research, Institute of International and Social Studies) and two regional colleges. At present, it has around 7000 students as well as more than 400 faculty members and research fellows, on the whole being the fastest growing university in the country. Human Development and Social Environment - Non-degree program offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences 3. International Relations - Non degree program offered by the Institute of International and Social Studies 4.Practical Estonian and Estonian Culture - Non-degree program offered by the Faculty of Philology 5. Psycho-Cultural Approach to Art- Non degree program offered by the Faculty of Fine Arts 6. Russian Language and Culture - Non-degree program offered by the Faculty of Philology 7. Social Work and Social Policy in Estonia - Non-degree program offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences Tallinn Summer School offers different courses: Estonian Language and Culture School, Russian Language School, Estonian Social Work and Social Policy Issues, Comparative Cultural Policy Studies - Sharing the Variety of European Cultural Policies, Regional and European Identities in Medieval Baltic Sea Region, Urban Landscape and Layers, Contested Modernities, Plein-air Painting Workshop, Italian Language and Culture.
