| No e-mail available | | Descripción | | By introducing the various faculties and other teaching and medical units we will outline a synergic and many-colored spectrum of training and research that offers a unique range of alternatives to those wishing to pursue their studies in higher education.
With its ten faculties – Faculty of Law, Medical School, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Health Sciences, Illyés Gyula Faculty of Education, Faculty of Business and Economics, Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Music and Visual Arts, FAculty of Adult Education and Human Resource Development – the university offers a broad range of training and degree programs that are aimed at training well-qualified experts with a wide intellectual horizon, ranging from higher educational professional training programs – with special regard to a high-level training of physicians – to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree programs.
The modern University of Pécs, founded on January 1, 2000 through the merger of Janus Pannonius University, the Medical University of Pécs and the Illyés Gyula Teacher Training College of Szekszárd, is committed to endorsing and popularizing the idea of lifelong education. Our primary goal is to ensure high-level teaching and research, but ample emphasis is also given to programs unique in Hungarian higher education (such as The Dancing University or The Open University) that provide an opportunity to our teachers, staff, present and former students to develop their knowledge and education extensively as well as strengthen their ties to the university.
During their several years of study at the university our students are introduced to the secrets and depth of the branch of science and scholarly endevour they have chosen to study, while they also have a chance to mix with students majoring in other areas, participate in a number of different programs organized for students by the faculties or the university, and most likely they also manage to find some time to get the flavor of the very active cultural life of the city of Pécs.
| | Descripción en otro idioma | | A közép-európai egyetemek alapítása során Nagy Lajos király 1367-ben Pécsett hozta létre az első magyar egyetemet, így a magyar felsőoktatás történetének kezdetét is ettől az időponttól datáljuk.
Több mint hatszáz éven át Pécsett szinte mindig működött valamilyen felsőoktatási intézmény, de az újkori, egységes pécsi egyetem létrejöttét 2000. január elsejétől datálhatjuk, amikor a Janus Pannonius Tudományegyetem, a Pécsi Orvostudományi Egyetem és a szekszárdi Illyés Gyula Pedagógiai Főiskola egyesülésével megalakult a Pécsi Tudományegyetem, Magyarország egyik legnagyobb, legszerteágazóbb kutatási-oktatási spektrumú felsőoktatási intézménye. A PTE mintegy 25000 hallgatójára, valamint 5000 oktatójára, dolgozójára azonban a továbbiakban is jelentős feladat vár: az eddig elért eredményeink megszilárdítása, a minőségi oktató-kutató munka feltételeinek biztosítása, a sokszínűség mellett a közös értékrend kialakítása. Azt szeretnénk, ha az integráció jogi értelmén túl is egy olyan stabil, konszolidált intézmény alakulna ki, ahol oktatók és hallgatók egyaránt szívesen, kollegális, demokratikus viszonyok között dolgozhatnak, tanulhatnak.
