| No e-mail available | | Description | | Welcome to the University of Mauritius. Your time at university will be one of the most exciting experiences of your life - a unique opportunity for in-depth studies into subjects that interest you and a chance to acquire knowledge and skills that are valued by employers. You will also have quality time in which to make new and lasting friendships.
The Faculty Handbooks together with the ‘Information to Students’ Handbook (CD-ROM) are important reference guides to the administrative and academic services provided by the University for undergraduate / postgraduate students. You must also bear in mind that you are now a learner and not a mere student. Please take time to go through the contents carefully as they contain details of essential procedures and information relevant to your curriculum. There are no excuses for you to miss any deadline pertaining to registration of modules, withdrawal, interrruption of studies, etc. as the onus is on the responsible adult that you are!
As a dynamic university, the UoM has developed a well deserved national, regional and international reputation for its research and teaching programmes. The new strategic plan of the university will lay emphasis on the creation, dissemination and preservation of knowledge. The University is committed to preparing its students to work, acquire skills and enlarge their capacities that equip them adequately to live in this rapidly changing global environment. The University believes in multiskilling and, as a UoM graduate, you will have much-needed transferable skills such as computer and information literacy and communication skills. Distance Education today is a burgeoning reality at the UoM and is well anchored in most, if not all, of the Programmes of Studies.
