| No e-mail available | | Description | | Studio Art Centers International was founded over 30 years ago. The intention was to establish a study-abroad program in Florence, Italy for college-level students from the U.S. and throughout the world. Since its inception, SACI has grown enormously. Students from every state in the U.S. and myriad other countries have come to Florence to study studio art, art history, conservation, museology, and Italian language, literature, and music at SACI.
SACI owns the historic Palazzo dei Cartelloni, a capacious landmark building in the center of Florence, near the San Lorenzo market, Medici Chapel, and a few minutes walk from the Duomo. SACI's facilities include classrooms for painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, digital multimedia, video, conservation and design. The SACI palazzo also contains a garden courtyard, gallery, library, computer center, darkrooms, language classroom, large lecture hall, and administrative offices. Nearby is SACI's Graduate Center, where students pursuing the MFA in studio art and the Post-Baccalaureate certificate have individual studio space and attend graduate seminars. In the Spring of 2003, SACI opened a new Design Center in the historic center of Florence, just a few blocks from SACI’s Palazzo dei Cartelloni. Fully-equipped with classrooms, study areas and computers, the new Design Center provides an ideal setting in which students can learn about Italian and other European approaches to graphic design, interior design, and illustration.
