Piedmont contributes to the economic growth and development of the largest and most diverse region of the technical college system, Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry, and Saluda counties and to the state. The college responds to the academic, training, and public service needs of the community through excellence in teaching and educational services. Piedmont has an open admissions policy and annually enrolls approximately 4,500 to 5,500-credit students. The college provides quality educational opportunities and accessibility for individuals with diverse backgrounds and ability levels to acquire the knowledge and skills for employment or the maintenance of employment in engineering technology, industrial technology, business, health, or public service or for transfer to senior colleges and universities. In addition to teaching technical skills, Piedmont provides graduates competencies in written and oral communication, information processing, mathematics, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and lifelong learning opportunities for residents within the service region.
