Description
We offer courses that provide our students with in depth hospitality training; covering both service as well as management skills. Our graduates are not only capable of serving the perfect martini with panache, they are also adept at handling business administration, marketing, human resource supervision and restaurant and café supervision. All educational programmes are within the scope of the New Zealand Qualification Authority Framework: our courses are accredited and approved by the NZQA. We offer National Qualifications at Level 3, Level 4 and a Level 5 Diploma that solely cover Hospitality. With campuses in the Auckland and Wellington central business districts, we are perfectly situated in environments where we are able to give students a realistic approach to the hospitality industry’s needs and expectations. We maintain strong alliances with local employers that enable us to target the areas of skills shortages within the industry and we offer full employment assistance as well as paid work experience whilst our students are attending our courses. Students are able to work up to 20 hours a week on a student visa and full time in the holidays. Our schools themselves have fully licensed bars on premises. The equipment we use is all of commercial standard. This includes the coffee machines the students work with. Our Auckland premises has a fully licensed Green Bean Café that the students manage and staff. The weight of a qualification from The Professional Bar and Restaurant School stands our graduates in great stead for whatever direction they choose to take once they have graduated. For those who wish to stay in New Zealand, successfully completing the National Certificate in Hospitality Level 4 enables our graduates to apply for a 2 year work permit. Students will also gain points towards immigration to New Zealand. 2007 Reports from the H.S.I* put hospitality industry staff growth at 20 per cent between 2001 and 2006, taking employment in the industry to more than 135,000 compared to 14 per cent for the economy as a whole. The number of hospitality businesses grew by 27 per cent, with more than 4000 new businesses. Coupled with the fact that New Zealand offers the 5th highest rate of employment in the world, it is clear to see why working in the hospitality industry specifically in New Zealand is appealing! A qualification from The Professional Bar School can also open up doors to international travel. In Asia’s gateway cities with new hotels springing up on almost every corner the challenge is to recruit and retain the calibre of staff that will provide the attention to detail and service experience that befit customers paying for and expecting 5 star service. World-class, master planned communities – luxurious beachfront resorts and residential developments, business and financial centres, modern new airports, and tax-free business and industrial zones springing up in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar are providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for those working in the service industry. The Indian tourism and hospitality industry is on a roll, driven by the huge surge in both business and leisure travel by domestic and foreign tourists. It is estimated that the hospitality sector is likely to see US$ 11.41 billion in the next two years, with around 40 international hotel brands making their presence in the country by 2011. Calls in London to clean up the hospitality industry in London before the 2012 Olympic Games in order for England to benefit fully from the games are widespread. Although America is known as the “fast food nation”, the established practice of “tipping” in the U.S has evolved out of a deeply embedded appreciation of good service. We also offer English language tuition at our sister school, Dominion English School: www.dominion.school.nz
