| No e-mail available | | Description | | The Undergraduate Program in Central European Studies (UPCES) was designed to offer a top quality undergraduate educational experience focused on integral issues of Central Europe. The program is located at CERGE-EI in Prague. CERGE-EI (Center for Economic Reseach and Graduate Education-Economics Institute) is recognized as a center of educational excellence in the region and its Ph.D. program is fully accredited both in the United States and the Czech Republic.
Study abroad students take part in courses organized specifically for UPCES. Classes are made up of American and European students. The European segment comes from both students of Charles University and other European Erasmus students studying abroad in Prague. This integration guarantees that students take their courses in an international, multi-cultural environment. UPCES feels strongly that students can develop a true sense of the region through direct academic and social interaction within the local culture. Participants of UPCES are welcome to enjoy the added benefit of the many activities taking place in the same building related to the CERGE-EI. Seminars on both theoretical and applied economics are presented weekly by a wide array of international scholars and researchers. As well, regular academic workshops and panel discussions are open to all program participants. Additionally, interaction with an internationally comprised student body offers an even more meaningful experience.
