Hamilton College is a private liberal arts college in Clinton, New York, United States. It was founded in 1793 and it is one of the "Little Ivies," ranked 18th in the country among National Liberal Arts Colleges. The academic year in Spain is organized by The Department of Hispanic Studies at Hamilton College, in cooperation with faculty members of Williams and Swarthmore Colleges. It is a hybrid program, offering small liberal arts-oriented classes and the chance to enroll directly in the Madrid University system. Students are also strongly encouraged to participate in the professional internship program that the school has created, offering the opportunity to make a difference in the local community. Before leaving for the program, all students sign a pledge for only speaking Spanish during its duration.
