UW Independent Learning is part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and offers flexible, distance-learning courses in Music, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Natural Sciences (this means Astronomy, Botany, Chemistry, Geography, Geology, Meteorology, Physics), Languages and Cultures (Greek and Latin, French and Italian, German, and Spanish), and Humanities (including English, History, Philosophy, and Writing). The university itself is a public research university, established in 1848 in Madison, USA. It is considered to be an Ivy League university, while the independent learning courses in Liberal Studies that it offers are designed with the purpose to offer students the opportunity to continue their education regardless of their schedule and location.
