Since 1992 when it was founded, SHMS Swiss Hotel Management School has been registered with the Department of Public Instruction. Due to a partnership with the University of Derby in the United Kingdom, the school’s graduates are awarded Swiss as well as British degrees after successful completion of its undergraduate and graduate programs.
Two internships are required for students proceeding to advanced levels. SHMS Swiss Hotel Management has two campuses, in Caux and in Leysin.

- Minimum age 17 years old
- Students must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for the full-time industry internship. Under-18 students will complete the second academic term at SHMS before commencing their first internship placement.
English level equivalent to a minimum TOEFL score of 500 points.

SHMS' Leisure Managers organise a wide range of sports and leisure activities as well as excursions and professional visits.
Sports, social activities and excursions provide an important balance to academic study. Many of these events are fully or partly funded by SHMS. School sports teams are also organised each term. These recreational activities allow students not only to get to know Switzerland better but also to relax and enjoy their stay while they study hospitality management
