Spanish Studies Programs, Center for Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Estudios Norteamerianos Benjamin Frankl
The University of Alcalá is situated only 30 km. from Spain’s capital, Madrid, and it was established more than 500 years ago. It is one of the oldest institutions in Europe, and now offers undergraduate, postgraduate programs, and such ones, aimed at international students. On top of the 35 doctoral and 40 masters programs taught, there is a center within the university, dedicated to teaching Spanish to foreign students – Alcalingua center. It spreads its activities over a number of areas: teaching Spanish language and culture, teachers training, Spanish for specific purposes, special programs for companies, Spanish for immigrants, etc. Students finish their studies with certificates, which give them university credits, and having spent quality learning time at an institution, which was recognized as World Heritage by Unesco.
